SATSUKI AZALEA STARTERS

Growing Young Satsuki Plants

Young satsuki are quite expensive to produce successfully as not every shoot from the mother plant is suitable for using.
On varieties with multiple flower types, I select the shoots that are the most likely to produce all the flower types on the resulting plant.
The results of this diligence may not be known for quite some time, perhaps years.
As the plant matures and produces more of the different flower types each year, with careful pruning,
bud selection and cultivation the true form of the variety will eventually shine through.

They require, good ventilation and a good quality growing media.
I prefer to grow them through their first winter which makes sure to weed out the weakest plants.
I search for new varieties all of the time so every year the list of available varieties will change.
If you have any questions please contact me and I will try to answer your query.
