To day was spent taking care of the Sekka Hinoki starter trees and cuttings. I placed more

air layers on some of the older more developed trees that have full crowns.
Although it is a difficult method to make such small trees they will make nice mame/shohin trees when they are ready so its worth the effort..

On the more mature trees I employed a technique used by an old bonsai master in Japan. It involves using wires to lower branches into position securing it to a metal mesh under the pot. This makes it easy to adjust them and eliminates the awkward wiring of branches that is difficult with this species.

Here's a forest group of Sekka with the wire mesh technique applied. The pics are from when I first got it in a rather bad condition (December 2020) to a before and after taken this week.

These are some of the cutting and last years cuttings that have been potted up. They will soon be ready for sale.
