The beautiful colours of Japanese Maples (Acer palmatum) in spring and autumn have always been popular with all levels of bonsai enthusiast. From the glorious red and pink spring colours of Deshojo and Seigen to the spectacular autumnal shades displayed by all of the varieties especially the rough barked Arakawa maple and of course the more rugged Trident Maple they never fail to impress at any size.
